Help us to help the sick children at Great Ormond Street Hospital
by taking part in a scavenger hunt.
You can if you're aged 13 - 93!
It's your chance to compete in teams to answer questions and
collect wacky objects from around London to win the Scavenger
Challenge Trophy.

Basically, teams compete by locating
answers to questions and finding whacky objects within the area
bounded by London Travelcard Zones 1-2. Some are straightforward,
some cryptic. For example objects, questions and answers - see
below...

| Scavenger Challenge 2002 was
a great success again with a record number of teams entering. The
winning team for the second year running was from the 1st City of
London Scout Group. Here they are being presented with the trophy.

Example Questions and Objects (from
Scavenger Challenge 1994)
- Question - How many exits are there under the main roundabout
at the Elephant & Castle ?
- Answer - Eleven.
- Question - In which hand does Peter Pan hold his flute when
he is in Hydeing?
- Answer - Left (Statue to be found in Hyde Park)
- Question - How many people lost their lives in the Kings Cross
fire?
- Answer - 31 (there is a plaque by the station entrance)
- Object - A Victoria to Gatwick rail ticket.
- Find one if you can!
- Object - One pound of Leek
- A leek can be found on some pound coins, equally vegetable
leeks weighing a pound would also score full marks
- Object - A clothes peg.
- Easy, but you can't go home and you can't spend any money
either!

| Rules: |
- All participants must be aged 13 years or over. Teams with
members of age 13 - 15 will require a leader / responsible adult
with them at all times. Teams with members of age 16 - 17 will
need a leader / responsible adult to counter sign their entry
form if no member of the team is over 18.
- Teams will consist of a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 4 people.
- Registration will take place from 11:00am at Great Ormond
Street Hospital (signposted from the hospital entrance). No
entries will be accepted after 11:45am so that all teams may
start at 12:00 midday.
- Participants may not spend any money other than purchasing
a travelcard and refreshments.
- Teams must stay together at all times.
- Participants must only use transport that is accessible with
a 1-2 zone Travelcard.
- Participants may not use mobile phones except in an emergency.
- Participants may not return to their homes whilst undertaking
the challenge.
- Teams must report to the finish by 5:00pm or be deducted 1
point per minute late.
- Any team or team member wishing to retire before the conclusion
of the event must notify the organisers immediately. (An emergency
telephone number will be given on the day).
- Participants accept that in taking part in the Scavenger Challenge,
they may be associated with the names of Great Ormond Street
Hospital, the Scout Association and the Guide Association and
will behave in an appropriate manner.
- The judges' decision is final.
- The penalty for breach of these rules is disqualification.
